How to save a copy of Dashboard in Power BI Service

To save a copy of a Power BI dashboard in the Power BI service, you can follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Dashboard: Log in to the Power BI service (https://app.powerbi.com/) and navigate to the dashboard that you want to save a copy of.

  2. Edit Mode: If you're not already in edit mode, click on the "Edit" button located in the toolbar at the top of the dashboard. This will enable you to make changes to the dashboard.

  3. Clone Dashboard: While in edit mode, hover over the dashboard's title, and you should see a three-dot menu icon (ellipsis) appear. Click on this icon to open the menu.

  4. Select "Save As": From the menu, select the "Save As" option. This will open a dialog box where you can specify the name for the new copy of the dashboard.

  5. Enter Name: In the dialog box, enter a name for the new copy of the dashboard in the "Name" field.

  6. (Optional) Choose Workspace: If you want to save the copy of the dashboard to a different workspace, you can select the desired workspace from the "Save in" dropdown menu.

  7. Save: Once you have entered the name and chosen the workspace (if necessary), click on the "Save" button to create a copy of the dashboard.

  8. Edit and Customize (Optional): If you wish, you can further customize the copy of the dashboard by adding or removing tiles, changing visualizations, or adjusting other settings as needed.

  9. Exit Edit Mode: After you have made any desired changes, you can exit edit mode by clicking on the "View" button in the toolbar.

By following these steps, you can save a copy of a Power BI dashboard in the Power BI service. This allows you to create duplicates of existing dashboards, which can be useful for experimenting with different layouts, sharing variations with different audiences, or preserving a snapshot of the dashboard at a specific point in time.
