How to Connect Snowflake to Power BI

Snowflake is a powerful, cloud-native data warehouse solution known for its scalability, performance, and support for semi-structured data. It enables organizations to centralize vast amounts of data from multiple sources while ensuring high availability and cost efficiency. 

When integrated with Power BI, Snowflake acts as a robust backend for lightning-fast, real-time analytics and rich data visualizations. Setting up Snowflake Connection in Power BI:

  1. Open Power BI Desktop & click on “Get Data" from the Home ribbon and choose "More..."

  2. In the data source list, search for "Snowflake", select it, and click "Connect"

  3. In the connection window, Enter the following details and click ok:

    1. Server Name : Your Snowflake Server

    2. Warehouse :    Your DataWarehouse


Note: This example demonstrates connection using Windows Authentication

  1. After successful login, the Navigator pane will appear

  2. Expand your Database > Schema > Table

  3. Select the table you want to work with and click Load

  4. Once the table is loaded, go to the Report view

  5. Create a sample tabular Report
